Edwin Thomas Malloy, 81, resident of East Hope, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, April 11, 2009, in Sandpoint, Idaho.
No services will be held.
Ed was born on Oct. 17, 1927, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Thomas and Mae Malloy. He grew up and attended schools in Bellevue, Pa. Ed was a 20-year Navy veteran with service during World War II, Korean War, and Vietnam.
Ed married Charlotte Parker on May 27, 1950, in Yuma, Ariz. After Ed’s Navy career he went to work as a computer analyst for the Pacific Missile Range at the Naval Airstation in Point Mugu, Calif.; later retiring in 1973.
Ed and Charlotte began to travel in their R.V. and discovered Hope, Idaho, in 1974. For 21 years they summered in Hope and wintered in Yuma, before settling in Hope full time.
Ed was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Disabled American Veterans, and the Clark Fork Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10320. He enjoyed fishing, reading, computers, and traveling.
He is survived by his loving wife, Charlotte Malloy of Hope, Idaho; two sons, Gary Malloy of Sandpoint, and Bruce (Sherry) Malloy of Del Rio, Tex.; three grandchildren, Kevin (Lydia) Malloy of Charleston, S.C., Christopher Malloy of Jackson, Tenn., and Melissa Van Dyke of Mesa, Ariz.; a great grandson, Tanner Van Dyke of Mesa, Ariz.; and a sister, Mildred Wood of Escondido, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Grace Eide; and one brother, Wilson Malloy.
