Mary Ann Savage

| April 14, 2009 9:00 PM

Mary Ann Savage, a longtime Priest River, Idaho, resident was called home to be with her Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, April 13, 2009.

She was born on May 27, 1940, at Coolin, Idaho.

When Mary was a baby, the family relocated to the Settlement in Priest River.

Mary resided at the family home built by her dad, until her death.

She attended school in Priest River.

Mary was a very special person who loved people, she could not pass by a baby without smiling and cooing at them.

Her love for animals was evident with the interaction that she had with her pet chickens and feeding the birds as well as the deer that wandered onto her property.

Mary found great joy in watching the moose, elk and bear foraging in the fields.

She had a very special friend in her dog, Toto. She liked to go for long drives in the country and was especially fond of huckleberry picking.

Mary did beautiful embroidery work and she gave many of those items to loved ones.

She was a constant companion and wonderful care giver to her mother until her death in 1995.

The later years were filled with medical issues but she still flashed her beautiful smile and maintained her positive disposition.

She was a member of the West Branch Bible Church and Happy Agers. She liked helping at the senior center events.

Mary left behind four brothers, Edwin and Alice Savage of Priest River, Eugene and Wanda Savage of Sandpoint, Vernon and Jenny Savage of Priest River, and Otho Savage Jr. and Carolyn of Priest River.

Also left are four sisters, Juanita Saul of Camas Valley, Ore., Emma and Larry Scott of Longmont, Colo., Johana Blomenkamp of Priest River and Fern (Dottie) Yerkes of Sandpoint, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Otho and Marie Savage; one brother, Robert; and a nephew, Wayne.

A celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 16, 2009, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Priest River.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Bonner County Hospice at P.O. Box 1448, Sandpoint, Idaho 83864 or West Branch Bible Church at 308 Snow Valley Rd. Priest River, Idaho 83856.
