SANDPOINT — Organizers are preparing for a record turnout at the fourth annual Career Fair in Sandpoint.

The fair, hosted by the Idaho Department of Labor and the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce, is set for April 29 at the Bonner Mall.

The event begins at noon and runs to 6 p.m.

“This career fair is especially important to promoting economic development by matching employers with job seekers,” Department of Labor Sandpoint office manager Bridgette Bradshaw-Fleer said. “Although the economy is tough, businesses have available to them one of the largest pools of highly qualified and skilled workers in years.”

In preparation for the fair, the chamber is sponsoring a free workshop today for employers on how they can take maximum advantage of the event. It runs from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Pend Oreille Insurance & Financial Services Inc., 476394 Highway 95 in Ponderay.

And on April 23, the Department of Labor has scheduled a job search workshop from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the local office, 2101 W. Pine St. in Sandpoint.

More than 750 job seekers participated last year in the fair that drew businesses and organizations from throughout northern Idaho. The event is sponsored by Horizon Credit Union, Litehouse Inc., 95.3 KPND radio and the Bonner County Daily Bee.
