Niceness doesn't work on those trying to destroy us

| April 22, 2009 9:00 PM

Let’s suppose… you have captured someone who has just locked all the people you love in a room. The door to the room  can only be opened by pressing the right combination of numbers on a keypad. If the wrong numbers are pressed, an explosion inside the room will kill all your loved ones. The door is the only way in. All the room surfaces are booby trapped and would kill your loved ones if disturbed. You nicely ask the person that you caught to give you the right combination. He laughs at you.

So, you have limited options. Your loved ones will soon starve to death if you don’t get them out. What would you do?

1. Yell at your prisoner hoping he breaks down?

2. Threaten to tell his mother?

3. Cause the prisoner some discomfort?

4. Let your loved ones die because it is the politically correct thing to do?

If you chose number 4, you chose what the majority of the American people are choosing. I have no respect for this majority and would hate to have them responsible for my safety at any time.

The government of the United States has a primary duty to defend the lives of its citizens. Yet we don’t want the government to cause any mental or physical discomfort to a prisoner who might have knowledge about an event that might kill many of us. Our majority favors option 4!

Have we gone mad?
