Sleath leads Cats golf team in season opener

CLARK FORK — Greg Sleath shot a 50, only four strokes away from medalist honors, as the Clark Fork golf team opened its season Tuesday in a nine hole match against Wallace and Mullan.

David Meadows carded a 64, Stetson McElhaney a 70 and Bryce Bare a 71 to round out the boys scores. Bare was playing in his first tournament and the team its first official round of the year.

“The scores were pretty high, but without much course time our practices have been limited,” said Cats coach K.C. MacDonald. “We have a lot to work on before our district meet at Wallace on May 4.”

Sara Zagorski and Paige Gear played their first rounds ever for the Wampus Cat two-girl team, and MacDonald said they had a good time and learned a lot.

The Cats are in Thompson Falls on Saturday.
