Ruth Heath-Hammond, 90

Ruth Heath-Hammond, residing at Aspen Ridge in Bend, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009.  She was 90.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Banks, Ore., with a private interment at Union Point Cemetery in Banks, Ore.

Ruth was born Oct. 12, 1918, in Millwood, Wash., to Jasper and Pearl (Carpenter) Covey. She married Walter (Hoot) Heath August 31, 1935 in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Ruth spent 30 years in the Sandpoint area, where they raised three girls. She was an avid square dancer, loved arts and crafts and was involved in Girl Scouts, 4-H and Eastern Star. She was active in the First Christian Church where she was Sunday school superintendent.

Ruth lived out her last years at Aspen Ridge Memory Care in Bend, Ore.

Survivors include her three daughters, Myrna Deardorff (Walt) of Redmond, Ore., Marlene Rogers (Felix) of LaMesa, Calif., and Janice Burnett (Don) of Banks, Ore.; and a brother, Bob Covey of Rancho Mirage, Calif. There are also 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild surviving.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both of her husbands and a brother, Albert Covey.
