Robert Harold Gastineau, 65, passed away in St Maries, Idaho, on Wednesday, August, 5, 2009.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009, in Pinecrest Memorial Park. Pastor Jon Pomeroy, Sandpoint Church of God, will officiate.

Calling hours will be on Tuesday, Aug. 11, from 9 am until 10:30 a.m., at Coffelt Funeral Service.

Robert was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on Nov. 14, 1943. He attended Bonner County Schools, later moving to the Priest Lake area. He worked for the Priest Lake Timber Protective Association  He cleared trails, stacked brush, and fought fires in the area. In 1967 he helped fight the Sundance Fire that engulfed Bonner and Boundary counties.

He enjoyed chopping wood, shoveling snow, and was a friend to the elderly.

He is survived by his sister Barbara (and Jim) Moore in St. Maries, Idaho; his brother Bill (and Donna) Gastineau, Jr. of Missoula, Mont.; and numerous aunts, uncles. nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orval “Red” and Mildred Gastineau, and his stepfather Francis Porter.
