Crowd's actions spoiling concerts

| August 10, 2009 9:00 PM

I first have to say that I was impressed by the quality of performers that we have slated this year, and that I truly enjoyed getting to see John Popper live in concert.  The reason I’m writing this is to bring out in the open the numerous complaints I heard while standing in line, and during the show. All of which could cause people to not come back, which would be a shame.

First of all is the issue of “Friends of the Festival” and season pass holders, as well as some of the volunteers. There were some people who had been waiting in line since early morning to get good seats, only to find the previously mentioned, running in ahead of everyone else and placing large blankets down, blocking off 10 or more seating spots.

Secondly is the requirement of only low-back chairs in the front. What difference does that make when security allows those people to stand up during the entire concert and block the view for everyone else.

Finally, and perhaps the most irritating. People pay good money to go to these shows to enjoy the performers. We don’t wish to listen to a group of people telling each other about their operations, vacations, and sexual conquests. If you are going to have security at these events, make them do something and put an end to these problems.

I just hope Clint Black is as awesome as Blues Traveler.

Great job, Dave Nygren and crew.
