BGH Foundation launches online auction fundraiser
Isn't it easier to spend money when you know it's supporting a cause you care about? Well move over eBay, because the BGH Foundation is going online to raise awareness and funds to support quality local hospital services.
Last week Bonner General Hospital Foundation launched its summer online auction fundraiser. This is a new type of fundraising for us, and we're really excited about the opportunity to share our message about the importance of quality local hospital services, while raising funds to support Bonner General Hospital.
From now until midnight on Friday, Aug.21, you can support your not-for-profit community hospital and find the perfect gift at the same time. All you have to do is log on to the online auction site, browse through the catalog of auction items and place your bid. It's that simple.
As is so typical of our generous Sandpoint community, many businesses and individuals have donated great items for this auction. Whether you're interested in an exotic getaway vacation, beautiful local artwork or season passes to sports or performing arts events, you'll find a wide range of items. Just a few of the things available for bid include:
• Walla Walla Wine Country Excursion
• Fighter pilot weekend in Las Vegas
• Dinner cruise on Lake Pend Oreille
• Festival 2010 season tickets
• Full day fishing charter
• Paris culinary adventure
• Exquisite local artwork and photography
The proceeds raised through the online auction will be used to purchase new surgical warming cabinets for the hospital's Surgical Services department. Warming cabinets play a key role in patient safety by heating the IV fluids and blankets used during surgery. This helps to maintain a patient's normal body temperature which, in turn, maintains the body's ability to fight infection and minimizes the risk of post-operative infections or complications. But what patients remember is the comfort factor-the feeling of a toasty warm blanket in an otherwise cold operating room!
