SANDPOINT — Two Sandpoint residents charged with trafficking marijuana waived their right to a preliminary hearing on Wednesday.

James Verlin Gustafson, 52, and Barbara Spankie Gustafson, 56, are scheduled to be arraigned in 1st District Court on Sept. 8, according to court documents.

They are charged with possessing more than a pound of the drug or aiding and abetting in the possession. The pot was discovered on Jan. 22 at a stash house near Elmira during a Bonner County Sheriff’s drug investigation involving a confidential informant who wore a wire, a detective’s report indicated.

The report suggests the pot was purchased from a Northern California supplier who possess and medical marijuana dispensary license.
