Proposals would hurt young and old

| August 15, 2009 9:00 PM

The discussions about the government health care proposals leave me with questions that aren’t addressed. It seems that these proposals will lead to a single payer program run by the government.  It will end up this way because no private insurance company will be able to compete with the government, which does not have to make a profit. They just print money and charge you and I for their losses.

The people advising the president evidently believe that because everyone they want covered would overwhelm the system, they are going to have to ration health care. I’ve seen charts by these health care advisers that show that people that are young, up to the age of about 14, and people that are old, people over the age of about 50, will be rationed as to the availability of the health care they will receive. The young because there was not too much invested in them as yet, and the old because they have outlived their ability to produce.

Here’s what bothers me:  If I shoot and kill an 80 year old should I receive less punishment than if I shot and killed a 30-year-old? And, if the government wastes money on pork and bribery, as usual, and because of that an 80 year old or 2 year old doesn’t have the money for needed health care, and they die because of this lack, is the government complicit in their murder?

Does it bother you?
