The 'disease' of politics can be ugly

| August 20, 2009 9:00 PM

Last week I was at Home Depot and ran into a group of contractors standing outside of the building.  As I approached I could tell by their expressions that the conversation was intense.  I walked up and greeted each of the gentlemen standing there.  The topic of conversation was Congress and what is happening there.  I was asked my thoughts about the 1,100 page health care bill currently pending.  To be honest there are two things I don’t like to discuss and that is religion and politics, primarily because everyone has a strong opinion.

I told them I wouldn’t discuss the pros nor cons about the bill; however, I would discuss the mechanics of the process.

It makes no sense to me that we send people to the Congress and the Senate who can’t read nor have the organizational ability to deal with a 1,100 page document.  Each representative has a well paid staff.  To me, a common man, logic dictates that the document should be broken down into 100 page portions.  Each staff member reads 100 pages and then writes a one page summation on what they read.  Now the bill is eleven (11) pages that our representative can easily review.  Their excuse, the bill is too big to read is plainly bull.

Just a word of caution, when someone tries to cram (fast track) something without you taking time to fully understand what is happening, it’s time for you to stop dead in your tracks and demand time to process the event.  Failure to do that will always end up hurting you because they have ulterior motives and usually you end up losing lots of money.

The recent events in Washington sets my stomach rolling because I’ve spent a good portion of my life defending this great nation as my father and grandfather did before me.  The tactics I see being used are the same tactics that Stalin, Hitler, etc. used to gain power and control over the people.

When trusted organizations like AMA and AARP blindly accept and put support behind programs that they know nothing about, the alarm bells should start ringing in our heads as Americans.

When Washington requests Americans report to Washington about other Americans talking negatively and openly about pending bills before Congress, flashing red lights should appear before your very eyes.

For over two hundred years Americans have fought Kings, Czars, Dictators, and Rulers of all kinds to protect our way of life and what we believe in as a nation.

To be honest I don’t care how you title yourself politically or how you label yourself ethnically, the bottom line is we are Americans first and foremost.  Every single person in American should stop what they are doing and look at Washington.  We should stand together as a nation and eliminate the fraud, waste and abuse that is coming our way.  We are a nation of the people, for the people and by the people.

My grandfather told me once “break the word politics down – poly meaning many, tics meaning blood suckers”.  We have allowed our representatives, both federal and state, to drain us dry financially, to the point our grand children will have to pay the interest bill on what they’ve to foreign government throughout their lives.

Obama came into office using the word “Change” and with him came a whole cadre of changers.  The only change I’ve seen is an empty treasury followed by socialistic programs designed to suppress and bankrupt America.

Wake up America and smell the coffee before it’s too late.  I for one hear the chains of bondage rattling as the jailer approaches.
