Let's solve the health care crisis

| August 22, 2009 9:00 PM

There’s a boogieman in the closet and he’s going to get you. Even if you are a functioning rational adult, once the premise of the boogieman is planted in your brain it can be hard to dislodge. Irrational fear, brought on by mere suggestion can still scare the heck out of you.

That’s exactly what’s taken place concerning health care reform. Instead of having rational debate, we are bombarded with completely fabricated non-sense.  Which I believe is criminal.

More than 40 million Americans without health care insurance is a crisis, which eventually affects every American. And unlike some of the conservative rumblings these 40 million are not all bums looking for a hand out.

We ought to be having real discussions and solving health care, instead of the insane misrepresentations that have nothing to do with anything that has actually been proposed.

I would think most everyone believes that we need to hold insurance companies accountable. The CEO’s are grossly overpaid; honest hard working people paying their monthly premiums are being denied when they are sick.  Premiums are not affordable on low wages, and group health plans are not always available.

Reform could bring skyrocketing health care costs under control, and cut waste and end unwarranted subsidies to insurance companies.

If we allow our selves to be hoodwinked by the organized attempts of the insurance companies and their lobbyists, and tune-in to loudmouth entertainers who’s job it is to get ratings I suppose we will continue to be a sick nation.
