Wampus Cats fall in FB opener

PLUMMER — Running back Howard Katzenberg returned a kickoff for a touchdown and added a 58 yard touchdown scamper, but it wasn’t enough as the Wampus Cats fell 58-28 to Lakeside in their season opener.

Axel Anderson caught a 13 yard touchdown from Nate Nesbitt, as the Cats (0-1, 0-1 NSL) led 16-12 after the first quarter. D.J. Jackson would score the Cats other touchdown on an 11 yard run.

The 1-2 punch of Tyler McCulley and Levi Dole provided the offense for Lakeside in a 58-28 season-opening win over Clark Fork in North Star League play.

McCulley ran for 196 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries and added a third score on a 52-yard reception. Dole delivered 238 yards and four touchdowns.

Clark Fork hosts Mullan next Friday.
