Badgers drop Cats
CLARK FORK — Chaunce Nesbitt posted eight points and seven rebounds, and Nate Nesbitt added nine points and four steals, but Clark Fork struggled offensively in the second half of a 75-30 loss to Bonners Ferry in nonleague boys basketball action Tuesday night in Clark Fork.
The Cats (0-1) showed flashes of the quick and athletic brand of basketball they plan to play this year, creating turnovers and running the floor in the first half. The Cats ran out gas in the second half against a deep Badger bench, scoring just seven points.
“Got a lot of shots, just didn’t make them,” said Cats coach Melvin Speelmon. “They (Badgers) played really good defense. We had looks, just couldn’t hit.”
Junior Aaron Moe scored 10 points in the first half, including two long range bombs in the first quarter, and Mat Evans and Alex Mendez combined for 27 points to lead the Badgers (2-0), who were clicking offensively.
The Cats play at Coeur d’Alene Charter on Friday.
