Pair win LPOIC derby
SANDPOINT — Bonner County anglers dominated the rainbow trout standings during the Lake Pend Oreille Idaho Club’s annual Thanksgiving Derby, according to final results.
Charlie DeLuca of Sandpoint topped the rainbow standings with a 16-pound, 4-ounce trout that measured 32 1/2 inches. Sagle’s Ray Smith hauled in a 13-pound, 2-ounce rainbow that was 30 inches and good for second place.
Rose Greene of Sandpoint and Wayne Heather of Clark Fork finished third and fourth, respectively. Greene caught a 13-pounder that was 31 inches, while Heather brought in an 11-pound, 3-ounce rainbow that stretched the tape to 28 inches.
Ken Reiber of Airway Heights, Wash., was the first-place finisher in the derby’s lake trout standings. The 13-pound, 13-ounce Mackinaw he reeled in measured 32 inches.
Scott Plue and Brian Ivy, both of Sandpoint, rounded out the top three in the laker standings. Plue caught a 10-pound, 1-ounce Mack measuring 30 inches. Ivy’s Mack tipped the scales at 7 pounds, 15 ounces and measured 29 inches.
Blake Jensen of Clark Fork boated a 13-pound, 13-ounce rainbow trout that was 31 1/2 inches. Dylan Peterson of Sagle finished in second with a laker that weighed 6 pounds 11 ounces and measured 26 inches. Bryan Elmore of Hayden took third with a 25-inch Mack that weighed in at 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
