Evaline Kealiikaapuni Johnson, 84
Evaline Kealiikaapuni Johnson, 84, of California, former Sandpoint resident died Nov. 17, 2009 at her home in California.
She was born Sept. 13, 1925 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
She met Walter Wayne Johnson in Hawaii while he was stationed with the U.S. Navy.
They were married on Sept. 11, 1943 and she moved to the Johnson family farm in Bonner County, Idaho, until the end of the war.
While living in Idaho she graduated from Sandpoint High School in the mid-1940s.
After a few years Walt went back into the Navy as a career man and they moved to National City, Calif., where she lived until her death.
Eva worked as a nurse’s aide at Scripps Memorial Hospital in LaJolla, Calif., until her retirement in the early 1980s.
She went on numerous tours, traveling extensively to the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, China, South Korea, and Japan and all over America.
She is survived by a sister, Nani; four children, Frank, Bonnie, Barbara and David; 11 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt; a daughter, Gale Marie Johnson; two grandsons, Jonathon Goff and Ricardo Castillo; and a granddaughter, Christine Goff.
Funeral services were conducted Nov. 24, 2009, at the Church of Jesus Christ in Bonita, Calif. Interment took place in the Rosecrans National Cemetery.
