Let's get a few facts straight

| December 9, 2009 8:00 PM

I am writing this in response to Mr. Larry Kettle’s letter to the editor in the Nov. 22, 2009 paper. Mr. Kettle lists five reasons why President Obama is a liar. He claims he has never answered the questions regarding his relationship with ACORN and he also states “Not one bill has been placed on the internet to be viewed by the public,” etc.

I think public discourse is a great American tradition and is what makes this country great, but when we seem to have about 30 percent of the electorate who could care less about truth, it gets a little scary. Just in case Mr. Kettle doesn’t know, everything he wrote in his letter is untrue. I suggest he visit www.whitehouse.gov and he will find every bill that is being considered or has passed, or he can just Google the bill number and it will pop-up. He can also check the White House Web site for whom and what the stimulus money is going for. www.factcheck.org and www.snopes.com are also excellent sources for information on Obama, ACORN and numerous other rumors going around.

Everyone should make an effort to fact check before forwarding e-mails and/or writing letters to the editor. Let us have an intelligent discussion on the issues of the day, it benefits everyone.
