Harry Lee Groanvelt, 63

Harry Lee Groanvelt, 63, passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009.

Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, in Coffelt’s Funeral Chapel.

Dale Coffelt will officiate and inurnment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Harry was born in Sandpoint, Idaho, on April 16, 1946, the son of Jacob and Velma Groanvelt.

He grew up in Sandpoint and attended Bonner County schools. Following school he served with the U.S. Army, in Vietnam, as an aviation mechanic. 

He lived in Portland, Ore., working as a welding inspector for Precision Cast Parts.

On June 13, 1970, he married Sharon Dunn in Gresham, Ore., and they returned to Sandpoint in 1984.

Harry continued to review plans and projects for the company, retiring in 2008.

Harry was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He enjoyed shooting his muzzle loaders, tinkering, and fixing things.

He is survived by his daughter, Kathi Harding in Spokane, Wash.; his son, Jacob Groanvelt in Hayden, Idaho; four grandchildren, Cory and Debbie Harding, and Trinity and Aaliyah Groanvelt.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Alice; and on Nov. 29, 2009, his wife Sharon.
