SANDPOINT — A Washington state man pleaded innocent Monday to allegations that he pulled handgun on two people during a confrontation outside an Oldtown bar.

Jeremy Alan Smith waived his right to a speedy trial during his arraignment in 1st District Court, court records indicate. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, an offense punishable by up to five years in prison.

Smith, 27, of Newport, Wash., was ordered to stand trial after two people testified that he leveled a pistol at them outside the Stateline Tavern on Aug. 8. No shots were fired, although the two alleged victims testified that they feared for their lives.
