Nesbitts combine for 30 in loss to Charter
CLARK FORK — Clark Fork kept the game close for a half, before Bob Sanders took over to lead Coeur d’Alene Charter to a 56-43 nonleague win over the Wampus Cats Tuesday night at Clark Fork High School.
Howard Katzenberg held Sanders to just two first half points, before the Panthers (5-1) big man tallied 13 second half points to propel his team to the road win.
Chaunce Nesbitt posted a double-double to lead the Wampus Cats (0-6), dropping in a game-high 19 points to go with 11 rebounds, no small task against the bigger Sanders.
“Those were hard-working, blue-collar points,” explained Cats coach Melvin Speelmon. “We held them down for a half and that kept us in it.”
Nate Nesbitt scored 11 points and played some shut down defense, and Stillman Berkley had a solid game with six points, five assists and four steals in defeat.
Clark Fork plays at the Newport tournament on Friday.
