SANDPOINT — Lily DeAragon (104 pounds) pinned every one of her opponents to become the first girl to win a middle school District 1-2 title, and Colton Redding (137 pounds) avenged a loss to an opponent from earlier in the season en route to a title, leading a strong showing by the Sandpoint Middle School wrestlers at the recent district tournament.

Dean Knaggs finished second at 130 pounds, Tanner McNelley was second at 80 pounds, Isaac Johnson was third at 123 pounds, John McCormick was third at 137 pounds, Josh Travers was third at 160 pounds, Damion Forell was third in the heavyweight division, Chris Bunty was fourth at 160 pounds and Alex Giese was fourth at 130 pounds as 10 Bulldogs grabbed a podium spot.

“The kids worked hard and came together at the end of the season like we like it to,” said head coach Dick Ross. “Lily pinned her way through the tournament, becoming the first girl to capture a district title.”
