Mildred H. Moreland, 93, Sandpoint, died Tuesday, Dec. 15, 2009 at Bonner General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Coffelt Funeral Chapel, with Pastor Jon Pomeroy, officiating.  Interment will be in Pinecrest Memorial Park.

Mildred was born July 8, 1916, in Banner County, Neb., the daughter of John and Cecil Dunn. She was raised and educated in LaGrange, Wyo., graduating at the age of 16.

In her late teens, she went to San Francisco and attended secretarial school.  She then moved to Washington, D.C., and worked in the Pentagon during World War II.  While there she married Wayne Lacey.

After the war Mildred moved to Cheyenne, Wyo, where she worked for the state of Wyoming Department of Health and Welfare.  In 1952, she moved to Sand-point, and met Watt More-land at KSTP, where he was a radio announcer.  They were married in Sandpoint in 1954.

Mildred worked as a secretary at KSTP, and later at the hospital for 35 years, retiring at the age of 87.

She enjoyed reading, and doing crossword puzzles, but the joy of her life was her family.

She is survived by three children, Sherri (Taz) McKinney, Richard Lacey, and Bob (Jody) Moreland, all of Sandpoint; five grandchildren, Lee Lacey, Karry Hegstad, Scott Hegstad, Christine Moreland and Traci Moreland; and 10 great-grandchildren:  She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981; and by three brothers.

The family suggests memorials to Toys for Tots c/o John Hunt, PO Box 62, Ponderay, ID 83862 or a charity of the donor’s choice.

Family and friends are invited to sign Mildred’s online guest book at www.coffeltfuneral.com.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Coffelt Funeral Service of Sandpoint.
