Agency's Web page clarifies process

Over the past several weeks, a number of news stories and Internet postings have been published regarding an adoption case involving the Blackfords, a local Bonner County family.

The Idaho Department of Health and Welfare was contacted for the initial story in your newspaper regarding this case in early November. Since then, however, we have not been contacted for input on any subsequent stories. 

While we cannot share specifics about an adoption case, we can address some of the concerns that have emerged regarding the state adoption process. We have created a page on the department’s Web site with this information and invite your readers to view the site and share their concerns and comments directly with us. We will consider these concerns and update the Web page in response.
