May holiday season be merry and bright
Clouds of gray loom just above.
The song birds have gone, even the dove.
White flakes flutter into trees so dense,
Covering the Earth and gracing the fence.
the chill bites at your nose, fingers and toes.
We must add more layers of warm winter clothes.
But in our little home, snuggled here on the hill,
We stoke the large stove that keeps out the chill.
Our little Westies love the white icing; not wishing to be inside.
In and out they traverse with a thrill they won’t hide.
This time of year, the north forests are are at rest.
The snow makes much work, but we do our best.
Our mountain road is long as it winds to our home,
Most is uphill; on this mountainside, we’re alone.
“Alone,” dare say?
Not once, not a day.
“La Terra Dios” means “Land of God,” I wish you to know.
And our ranch sign proudly displays this in the snow.
This “Land of God,” is where we have chosen to reside.
Or did it choose us from the large human tide?
Whatever the case, we caretake this land.
With His help each day, we feel His strong hand.
We each need to recall, God create all we are and know.
The least of dirt to the tallest peaks covered with snow.
If you listen, as Christ stated, with “ears to hear,”
Deep within ourselves we’ll feel Him speak near.
Please catch our warm wishes as they flow through the miles
And send them speeding onward with great cheer and smiles.
May this Christmas season bring forth the best in all you know.
Christmas will always be Christmas, whether warm or in snow.
