SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man was charged with inattentive driving following a three-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 95 in Sagle earlier this month.

There were no reports of serious injuries, although three vehicles suffered significant damage in the Dec. 14 collision in the Dufort area, according to an Idaho State Police report.

A witness who was involved in the crash told a trooper that he was following a van in the northbound lane when a southbound Chevrolet Camaro crossed the center line and collided with the van, the report said.

The witness swerved his pickup off the road to avoid the crash and went off into the ditch.

The Camaro’s driver, Lucas James Ginter, told state police he driving well below the speed limit, but still lost control of the car, the ISP report said. The trooper noted in the report that the lanes of travel were clear, although there was a light layer of slush on the highway’s center and fog lines.

Ginter, 28, is scheduled to be arraigned on the misdemeanor charge next month, court records indicate.
