Drugs stolen from BF pharmacy

BONNERS FERRY — Prescription drugs with a street value of several thousand dollars were stolen during a break-in at Well Life Pharmacy inside Boundary Trading Co., police said.

A “high amount of narcotics” were stolen police said. They included the painkillers morphine, methadone and Oxycodone.

Police have no suspects and do not know if more than one person was involved.

The break-in occurred between 4 p.m. Thursday, Christmas Eve, and the morning of Saturday, Dec. 26, police said. Entry was gained through the pharmacy’s drive-through window, which appeared to have been pried open.

Most of the drugs stolen were pills. Some of the Oxycodone was in liquid form, police said.

The exact amount of drugs had not been determined as of Monday, police said.

It’s believed the suspect of suspects stole the drugs to support their own habit or to sell.

Morphine is used to relieve severe or agonizing pain and is a habit-forming drug that should not be taken with alcohol, according to Drug.com.

Methadone is similar to morphine. It also reduces withdrawal symptoms in people addicted to heroin or other narcotic drugs without causing the “high” associated with the drug addiction.

Oxycodone also may be habit-forming. Dangerous side effects or death can occur when alcohol is combined with this narcotic.

An investigation into the break-in is continuing.
