Martha Oma Thompson, 82

Martha Oma Thompson, 82, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 27, 2009 in Sandpoint, Idaho.

Memorial services will be held in California on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2010.

 Martha was born on Sept. 29, 1927 in Los Angeles, Calif., to Edward and Grace Camp. She grew up and attended schools in Los Angeles.

Martha married Allan E. Thompson on Aug. 16, 1952, in Reno, Nev. She worked as a manager for Hughes Markets, retiring in the late 1980s.

She moved to Sandpoint in 2001 to be closer to family.

 Martha was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and Bonner General Hospital Auxiliary. She loved to read and shop but her passion was family and her volunteer work at the hospital. Her friends there were her extended family. 

 She is survived by two daughters, Marala (Dan) Gardea of Sandpoint, and Cynthia (Jose) Almendariz of Marina Del Rey, Calif.; one son, Dan (Erin) Thompson of Santa Clarita, Calif.; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild; and a brother, John (Cynthia) Camp of Long Beach, Calif.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bud, in 1976; and a sister, Jane Ewald.
