Barbra Ruth Petersen, 84

Barbra Ruth Petersen, 84, of Sandpoint died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at Life Care Center of Sandpoint.

She was born April 25, 1924, in Ramona, Calif., the daughter of John and Annie Clark Kunkler. She was raised and educated in Ramona, Calif., and later attended business college in San Diego. She worked for a time at Consolidated Air in San Diego.

She met Warren Petersen and they were married on July 26, 1942, in Yuma, Ariz. While Mr. Petersen served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, she stayed in California. They served in the military and aerospace industry until 1972.

They moved to Hope, Idaho, in 1979 and have remained in the area since that time.

Barbra was an accomplished landscape and still-life artist. She also enjoyed gardening, and flowers of all kinds. Barbra loved studying spiritual reality and sharing that with her friends and family.

She is survived by her husband, Warren of Sandpoint: two daughters, Virginia Jacober of Anchorage, Alaska, and, Kathryn Petersen of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; a grandson, Matthew Howard of Anchorage; a nephew, Siegfried and Debbie Traviss of Borrego Springs, Calif.; and by wonderful friends: Bev and Ron Thompson and Larry and Cindy Wood.

Barbra was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother and 1 grandson: Joshua Howard.
