Let's find a way to work together as a country

| February 9, 2009 8:00 PM

We have had eight years of tax cuts for the rich and we have seen the results. It is time we support policies that actually help the middle class and poor in these tough times.

I understand that those well off could care less about the ones who are struggling, but this is a time of change. It is time to change this country from the “United States of the Rich” back to the United States of America.

Now I realize that my representative in the House has joined in along party lines and decided that she will oppose anything our new president puts forward, but I need her to know this does not fall in line with the ideals of a lot of her constituents.

All I heard during the election was how the Republicans wanted to break the partisan gridlock in Washington, but then I see that not one single Republican voted for the stimulus package from President Obama. This shows me they are not looking to put partisan politics aside and are going to be obstructionists to the new administration.

I believe the American people will judge them harshly for taking this stance and will further erode their reputation with the American people.

Now some may think this is a good thing, but I do not since what we need at this time is to come together for the good of the country.

So I ask that my representatives work with the president to help turn the economy around, and tax cuts for the rich have already proven to not work, so let’s find a way that does.
