Investing in our kids cannot be put on hold

We all feel the dire effects of the country’s economic crisis. However, we must remember, even in difficult times investing in our children cannot be put on hold. They will someday run our banks, hospitals, counties and even country.

Investing in their education now will ensure that our children’s generation and beyond will be prepared to make the right choices. History has shown the consequences of cutting educational budgets too far — inferior schools, inferior teachers and inferior education. The kids of our community deserve better. Good public schools are the foundation of a strong society.

It is our responsibility as citizens and community members to keep our schools well staffed and our curriculum challenging and fulfilling. Our future depends on them. Children don’t usually get a second chance for a good education.

Let’s not give up on them now. Please vote yes on Feb. 24.
