Knights slip past Clark Fork
PLUMMER — Lakeside didn’t have an answer for 6-foot-5 Clark Fork senior Jared Broggi, but the Knights did find a way to outscore the Wampus Cats 59-55 in the final game of the regular season Tuesday night in Plummer.
Broggi finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds, inflicting most of his damage down low. Broggi has posted a double-double in nearly every game this season.
“They double-teamed him and he was still hitting,” said Cats coach Melvin Speelmon. “Lakeside had a 12-0 run before half and into the third quarter, and that was the difference.”
Freshman Stillman Berkley continues to emerge as another scoring option for the Cats (5-13, 4-4 NSL), dropping in 13 points.
Lakeside senior Merlin Weaselhead led the Knights (8-12, 4-4 NSL) with 23 points and Lamont Higgins added 15.
Clark Fork opens the district tournament Friday night in Moscow when they face Summit Academy. Tip off is at 6 p.m. Kootenai and Nez Perce play in the other game, with the winners of each facing off on Saturday.
