When is enough enough on the levy?

| February 18, 2009 8:00 PM

I read with interest the article in the Bee this week regarding, what to me is, the threat from LPOSD that if the voters do not pass the proposed school levy all the district will take away from the students and employees. From 100 employees losing their jobs to students being denied all activities; which I assume also means all of the sports programs, band choir and all the other clubs offered now.

I think it is a shame that the school district uses these types of practices with their students and the public to get a levy passed, especially with a failing economy and with so many residents in Bonner County that have lost their jobs due to the mill closures, cut backs in hours of many that are still working.

In my opinion in school levies only property owners should be able to vote since we are the people footing the bill.

And, yes, I know this levy will not affect me. These constant levies Sandpoint needs to supplement its funding and because we never saw much of the money for anything is why we split from the district.
