Allen A. Beach Jr.

Allen A. Beach Jr. passed away Feb. 18, 2009, at his home in Spokane, Wash.

He was born Jan. 1, 1928, in Helena, Mont., the son of Allen Sr. and Loretta Dorothy (Coffeen) Beach.

Allen spent his entire working career with Great Northern and Burlington Northern railroad before retiring.

He spent many years volunteering for the Spokesman Review Christmas Fund as well as the Internal Revenue Service assisting low income families and immigrant families with their taxes.

He was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus and was also involved with the Junior Achievement Program and Campfire Girls.

Allen was preceded in death by his loving wife of 57 years, Elizabeth Graham Beach, in 2007.

He is survived by his daughters, Sharon Taylor of Renton, Wash., Ann Short of Spokane and Nancy Beach of Fortine, Mont.; sisters, Marjorie Robbins, Dorothy Franklin and Jane Doty; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be Saturday, Feb. 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. and will be conducted at the funeral home. Inurnment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
