Overloaded ship sinking under weight of taxes

| February 20, 2009 8:00 PM

I don’t understand the mentality that while an overloaded ship is at the point of sinking,  you keep piling on cargo until it goes under.

When unemployment is at an all-time high and hyper inflation is looming just around the corner and, if we are indeed in the beginning or middle of a recession/depression, then it seems the necessity  of cutbacks would be obvious to everyone.

Now, according to an article in the Feb. 11 Bee, we the people, are supposed to feel guilty because the schools will have to cut back if the levy doesn’t pass. Sometimes I wonder if anyone ever feels guilty burdening their neighbor with debt that they cannot afford. There are, and will be, people losing their homes because of the economic conditions. No one wants to see the kids lose the opportunity to play sports, but let’s be real about life, there are times to cut back and this is one of them.

Oh look, the raging seas are starting to wash over the deck now.
