Summit defeats Clark Fork, 54-29

| February 20, 2009 8:00 PM

MOSCOW — Clark Fork had a tough shooting night to open the 1A Division II, District 1-2 playoffs, falling 54-29 to Summit Academy Friday night at Moscow High School.

Jared Broggi had his usual double-double, posting 15 points to go with 10 boards, but the Cats (5-14) finished just 11-58 from the field, for just under 20 percent shooting.

“We had lots of good looks; that’s what had me upset,” said Cats coach Melvin Speelmon, praising the play of Summit. “They’re long and move well on defense, and they shot more than 50 percent from the field.”

Pat Young added five points and four assists, and Chaunce Nesbitt and Stillman Berkley each added four in defeat.

Clark Fork plays the loser of the Kootenai/Nez Perce game, which was in progress at press time, at 2:30 p.m. in Lewiston, in a loser-out game.
