Double standard taking place at Green Owl site

| February 21, 2009 8:00 PM

A couple of years back the previous owner of 1230 Peninsula Road (Bonner County’s proposed new dump site location) wanted to use the property for a rock and septic system business. The affected landowners contacted Bonner County Planning Department and voiced their concerns about the intended commercial/industrial use.

The planning department advised the affected landowners that the property was zoned rural/agricultural, and that commercial/industrial use such as the proposed rock and septic system business would not be permitted in the rural district.

Now that Bonner County has purchased the property for the intended purpose of locating a solid waste site there (which is classified as an industrial facility) it is suddenly OK to change the zoning from rural/agricultural to commercial/industrial?  Isn’t that convenient!

Please help us prevent this “double standard” from ruining our neighborhood forever by signing our petition at any of the following Priest River locations: Bev’s Home Furnishings, Big Moose Rental Center, Bordertown Feed, Lou’s Place, NAPA Auto Parts or River Mountain Realty. Thank you for your continued support.
