Who is really running the U.S. government?

| February 23, 2009 8:00 PM

I’m exhausted. Even though my guy McCain lost the election I was somewhat encouraged by the seemingly youthfulness and much needed change that Obama promised during that endless campaign we all endured.

It hasn’t taken long, just three weeks, to see that his rhetoric is just that. He has lined his cabinet and staff with tax cheaters, leftover Clintonites, and cronies from Chicago. He has not strayed from the far-left toward the center as will be needed to govern effectively, in fact it took only 10 days to deliver a 600-page spending bill, the largest ever conceived, to Congress. He is holding “town hall meetings” in an effort to cram this bill down our throats with fear of what might happen if we delay.

Who is running the country Obama or Nancy Pelosi from California? Most lawmakers who are voting for this legislation haven’t even read the manuscript which must contain every pet pork spending project pent up for the last 20 years. Now I see they are moving the Census Bureau to the White House from Commerce after 200 years. Is there no end to these first three weeks?

I’m disappointed that this intelligent man, promising change and capturing the hearts of so many Americans in a time of dire need, appears to be another “business as usual” politician. He is running us toward socialism at breakneck speed, all the while scolding anyone who opposes him. Obama forgets that nearly half the country didn’t vote Democrat.
