After retiring he then returned to Sandpoint. With his free time he enjoyed his family and his hobbies including fishing, gardening, reading westerns, metal work, and teaching his grandchildren how to yard sale. Over the last 10 years he enjoyed strengthened relationships with all of his family.

He was preceded in dealth by his parents, grandparents, and his older brother, Malcom Neal Fredstrom. He is survived by his loving wife, Rose; his younger brother, Bruce (Lorie) Fredstrom of Canada; and his aunt, Frances Fredstrom; four children, Pamela Rose Crawford of Sandpoint, Nancy (Kevin) Savage of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dennis (Debbie) Belanger of San Diego and Gloria (Ronald) Savage ofSandpoint; eight grandchildren, Brian (Cindy) Robbins, Amie (Chad) Hunt, Carrie (Quentin) Hill, Beckie (T.J.)
