Idaho must reject stimulus funding

| February 25, 2009 8:00 PM

With the passage of the massive economic stimulus bill, the United States enters a new paradigm of fiscal uncertainty. The relationship between government and the electorate is forever changed, to the grave dismay of Idaho conservatives. It is notable that Idaho’s congressional delegation was unanimous in opposition to the stimulus package. Sens. Mike Crapo and Jim Risch voted against it, along with Reps. Mike Simpson and Walt Minnick. None offered any amendments in the way of improvement.

Idaho conservatives must support our delegation in word and deed. Oppose the stimulus “bailout.” The most straightforward way to do that is to refuse to accept funds from the stimulus package. The state must decline money for roads, schools, medicaid, food stamps, extended unemployment benefits. Citizens of moral character and values must decline any tax rebates, Social Security bonus checks, increased food stamp benefits, etc. Liberals must know that Idahoans stand behind their congressional representatives 100 percent.

Please join me by encouraging our congressmen, neighbors, and former co-workers to reject this anti-American, socialistic giveaway. Follow your conservative principals. Sen. Risch — (202) 224-275; Sen. Crapo — (202) 224-6142; Rep. Minnick — (202) 225-6611; Rep. Simpson — (202) 225-5531
