Moscow girls down Sandpoint

| January 9, 2009 8:00 PM

MOSCOW - Jenny Thomas scored eight points and Lorna Heer grabbed six rebounds, but shooting woes proved too much to overcome as the Sandpoint girls fell 49-13 to host Moscow Friday night in 4A North League action at the Bear Den.

The Bulldogs (1-11, 0-5 IEL) shot just 2-18 from the field in the first half, and committed 27 turnovers, many of which led to transition baskets for the Bears (3-7, 1-3 IEL), who were led by Chelsea Waters' ten points.

"We couldn't get anything going," said Sandpoint coach Lance Bruce. "Nothing was falling, and it affected us getting back on defense."

Sandpoint now turns its attention to one of the best basketball teams in Idaho, if not the Northwest, in undefeated and No. 1 ranked Coeur d'Alene, which comes to town on Tuesday night.
