Donald Allen Brown was born in Coronado, Calif., on May 19, 1928 and went to sleep in the arms of his Lord and Saviour, with his wife by his bedside on Jan. 18, 2009.

Don attended Coronado High School. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1950 and was stationed at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida. It was in Florida that Don met his wife of 55 years, Virginia (Ginny).

After leaving the Air Force Don and family returned to Coronado. Don became a Coronado firefighter and  worked his way up to captain, retiring on a medical after 22 years of service.

Upon retirement, Don and Ginny moved to Sandpoint, Idaho, in 1978 and to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 1993.

Don is survived by his wife, Ginny; his son, Don Jr.; his grandson, Kenny of Hayden; his daughter, Kim of Mead, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate his life at a memorial service on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Community United Methodist Church Chapel, corner of Ramsey and Hanley.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that any memorials be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association or your local firefighters’ association.
