CLARK FORK - Jared Broggi had a big night on the blocks, posting 16 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks to help lead Clark Fork to a 48-45 North Star League home win over Kootenai Thursday night.

The Cats (2-8, 1-1 NSL) jumped out to a 16-6 lead in the first quarter, helped by 3-pointers from Stillman Berkley, Broggi and Pat Young. Young hit a running 30 foot bank shot at the first quarter buzzer that proved to be a big basket.

"It was nice to see the boys play to win instead of coming from behind," said Cats coach Melvin Speelmon, whose team faced a host of 3A schools to start the season. "Being able to control your own destiny at the end of games."

Chase Chowning added 12 points and Stillman Berkley 11, and Nate Nesbitt grabbed two big rebounds late in the game to preserve the win.

Jacob Zarpentine scored 15 points and Kolten Wilms added 10 for the Warriors (2-9, 2-2 NSL), who outscored the Cats 28-16 in their second half comeback attempt.
