| January 23, 2009 8:00 PM

SANDPOINT - Spencer Swerin had his best game of the season, holding his own against a tall Lewiston front line to the tune of 24 points and 10 rebounds, but Lewiston took control in the second half and cruised to a 69-56 win over Sandpoint in IEL boys action Friday night at Les Rogers Court.

"Spencer came out and took it to them," said Bulldogs head coach Tyler Haynes, whose team has shown it can play with anyone in stretches. "We came out with a lot of intensity."

Sandpoint (5-7, 0-4 IEL) jumped out to a 19-9 first quarter lead, and the game was tied at half time before Lewiston's height began to take over. Bryce Olin added 10 points and five assists and Tanner French scored seven in defeat.

Lewiston (10-2, 2-1 IEL) was led by 6-foot-7 post Justin Podrabsky's 12 points, and 6-foot-8 Peter Gregg's 11 points, four of which came on dunks.

Sandpoint is at Lake City on Tuesday.
