Fire destroys home, cabin
DOVER - Three people were left homeless after a fire on Wild Turkey Road claimed a home and a cabin.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, according to Westside Fire Chief Mike Tucker, who said preliminary findings suggest the fire was accidental. There were no reports of injuries.
"Everybody was gone when it happened," said Tucker, who estimated the fire had burned for 30-45 minutes before it was discovered.
The single-story, wood-framed home was a practically a total loss, as was an adjacent cabin, Tucker said. He said it was not immediately clear if the occupants had insurance.
Firefighters from the West Pend Oreille and Sagle fire districts also responded to the blaze, which was located off a narrow road.
Tucker said the Red Cross has been called in to assist the victims of fire.
