| January 26, 2009 8:00 PM

CLARK FORK - A cold shooting third quarter proved costly, off-setting a great night by the Clark Fork big men, as visiting Lakeside beat the Wampus Cats 59-49 in North Star League boys basketball Monday night.

Jared Broggi and Chase Chowning each registered a double-double, using a big size advantage to combine for 32 points and 22 rebounds for the Cats (2-9, 1-2 NSL), who built a 24-20 halftime lead.

"We couldn't hit a shot in the third quarter and they hit theirs'" said Clark Fork coach Melvin Speelmon, whose team managed just seven points on 2-14 shooting in the quarter. "Lakeside went into a zone and we couldn't hit anything outside."

Pat Young had seven points and six assists for the Cats, and Stillman Berkley added five in the loss.

Merlin Weaselhead scored a game-high 18 points to lead the Knights (5-9, 2-2 NSL), and brother Nate Weaselhead added 12.

Clark Fork is at Mullan on Wednesday.
