Vote no until district trims more from levy
Larry Smith's letter to the editor, plus others say "the levy is absolutely necessary." But they fail to say the levy has added on a few million dollars.
Sandpoint probably has the best schools in the entire state.
Has anyone noticed it takes two full pages to print the honor roll students?
The Daily Bee provides a virtual flow of pro-levy positions of free advertising.
The voters might think our excellent school system would fall apart if they believed the levy would fail. Truth is, it can be cut back and run again and pass without any problems.
We will also be threatened if it does not pass, the school days will be cut back more and more. I guess its just human nature, when we have free money to keep adding more and more programs in the name of, we are doing so much more for "our kids."
Vote no until we see $2 million knocked off the budget, then vote yes.
The state of Idaho is hurting and will not fully fund the usual amount to schools so why do we ask our out-of-work voters to pay for added programs?

Editor's note: School district trustees have investigated four-day school weeks, but have said that the savings ($200,000 a year) would not offset the disruption to student and family schedules, nor would it boost an already high attendance rate, on which schools are funded. By state law, students must attend a specific amount of school per year.
