Youth tennis classes offered

SANDPOINT — Registration for another session of the 2009 Youth Tennis season has begun at Sandpoint Parks and Recreation, located at 1123 Lake St. Partial scholarships are available on a need basis. Classes are filling fast so sign up quickly.

n Tennis for Tiny Tots (Ages 4-5)

Special training techniques and toys will be used to keep the Tiny Tots smiling and having fun. Note that the class size is very limited (six kids per session). Session No. 6 lessons will be held at Lakeview Park, July 21 and 23, from 8-8:45 a.m. Class fee is $12 ($2 city discount). Session No. 7 will be July 28 and 30. 

n Tennis for Hot Hitters (Ages 6-7)

Session No. 6 lessons will be held at Lakeview Park, Monday through Thursday, July 20-23, from 9-10 a.m. Class fee is $23 ($3 city discount).

Session No. 7 (July 27-30) is still open for registration as well.

n Tennis for Intermediate Youth (Ages 8-12)

These lessons teach fundamentals, strategy and play. Beginning lessons or play experience is required. All sessions will be held at Lakeview Park

on Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m.-noon. Session No. 6 runs from July 20-23, and session No. 7 is from July 27-30.

n Tennis Teen Intensive Skill Development (high school varsity players)

This session is for players with previous experience. Players will work on stroke refinement, movement on the court and strategy. Learn what it takes to become a high school varsity player. All sessions will be held at Lakeview Park Monday through Thursday from noon-1 p.m. Class fee is $23 ($3 city discount). Session No. 6 runs July 20-23 and is open for registration, marking the last Intensive Skill Development session.
