High-flyiing hoops action coming to Sandpoint
SANDPOINT — The Harlem Ambassadors are coming to Sandpoint this fall, bringing their high-flying slam dunks, dazzling ball handling and hilarious comedy routines to town to help raise money for the Sandpoint Chapter of Wishing Star.
The team of men and women, an off-shoot of the Harlem Globetrotters, will take on the Glory Daze Hometown Heroes, a squad that will be assembled from the wealth of Sandpoint-area basketball talent.
The mission of the Harlem Ambassadors is to deliver a quality basketball show to audiences throughout the United States and internationally. The show is designed to be fun for customers of all ages, with youngsters being awed for the first time and older folks enjoying the tried-and-true gags like a rerun of a favorite comedy movie.
The Ambassadors’ operation is professional in all aspects. In addition to having a wholesome entertainment product, they are also good citizens, promoting the values of staying in school, staying off drugs and fostering racial harmony.
“We’re excited about it,” said Sandi Hoge, the treasurer of Wishing Star. “It will be a great thing for the whole community.
So circle November 1 on your calendars, and don’t miss a chance for a fun night of hoops for a worthwhile cause. More information on tickets and prices will be forthcoming as the event draws near.
Wishing Star is always looking for sponsorship and donations from anyone who would like to help.
