Junior Achievement receives grant

SPOKANE — Junior Achievement of the Inland Northwest, which includes the Lake Pend Oreille School District, received a $10,000 donation Thursday from the Qwest Foundation has awarded JA a $10,000.00 donation. Allocation of these funds will be used to help support JA programs in the elementary schools in the Spokane community.

This generous gift will assist in Junior Achievement’s mission to impact additional students with JA’s economic curriculum.  Junior Achievement of the Inland Northwest will continue to aim high and exceed our student goals, inspiring more young people to succeed in the global economy.  Junior Achievement partners business and education, bringing the real world to students, opening their minds to their potential and preparing them for the world of work. 

Educators welcome JA programs because they enrich student learning and align with curriculum standards.  Classroom volunteers take pride in being role models and embrace the feeling of accomplishment thy receive knowing they are making a difference in a child’s life.

Junior Achievement of the Inland Northwest provides programs for students

kindergarten through 12th grade.  During the 2007-08 school year 10,507 students participated in JA. In the 2008-09 school year the number of students served grew to more than 11,000.

Junior Achievement is the world’s largest organization dedicated to educating young people about business, economics and entrepreneurship. Through a dedicated volunteer network, JA Worldwide provides in-school and after-school programs for nearly 7 million students worldwide in grades K-12.

JA Worldwide offers educational programs that focus on seven key content areas: business, citizenship, economics, entrepreneurship, ethics/character, financial literacy, and career development.
